As a fifth generation farmer, farming is in my blood. It’s what I’ve spent all my life doing. I enjoy putting crops in the ground, watching them grow and being in the combine at harvest. My father and I grow soybeans, corn, rice and wheat. Pigweed is causing the biggest problems for us, and we are excited to see how the Enlist™ weed control system will help control it. We like to try new technology on our farm to see how it works and get hands-on experience with it.

I’m ecstatic with the weed control. The fields of Enlist soybeans were probably the cleanest fields I had. The advantage of participating in the Field Forward program is getting to see the new technologies in action and the hands-on experience.

"We are about four to five weeks out from harvesting the Enlist soybeans. We are irrigating the soybeans for the last time now. We have two more days of irrigation, and then we will be done. The beans are touching in the pods, and so we are just waiting for Mother Nature to take its course.
The Enlist soybeans look beautiful. We are curious to see how they are going to turn out because they look good. From the ground up, they are loaded up with beans on every plant."

Enlist Duo® herbicide stays on target
We had a cotton field within 10 feet from the Enlist™ field and never once did it get on the cotton. When we sprayed the ends and grass, it never jumped and the control was perfect. Where we sprayed it, that’s where it hit and it did not go anywhere. And I was really impressed with that.

We made our second application of Enlist Duo on Friday and began irrigating the beans then as well. The soybeans are growing good so far.

Heavy pigweed pressure
Pigweed is about all we’ve seen in our early season scouting. Pigweed pressure is pretty heavy. On a scale of 1 to 10, it’s about a 9.5.
The crop is growing great. The weather did not affect our applications plans. We applied just when we wanted to. We noticed that the weeds started wilting by the next time we scouted the field.

The Enlist soybeans are up and looking good. We’re expecting rain over the next few days, and then we will be back in the fields once it dries up.

Wet field conditions
Corn and rice are in the ground. As soon as it dries out, we’ll start planting soybeans. That’ll most likely be next week.

When it comes to the Enlist system, we are more excited to see the weed control more than anything. Somebody has to explore new technology. We always try to stay up on the latest technology to keep weeds under control on our farm.
