I’ve been around farming since I was born. I’ve always had a passion for farming. It’s just a great way of life and great place to raise a family. On our family farm operation, we grow corn, soybeans, wheat and a little hay in addition to raising club calves. We use conservation practices, including no-till soybeans, strip-till corn and cover crops. In the past three years, marestail has become a big problem. I’m interested in Enlist Duo™ herbicide as a postemergence option to take care of marestail in season.

The genetics were top-notch. The Enlist E3 beans yielded really good and met my expectations. I’m definitely going to plant more when they are approved for export.

Crops look excellent. It was hot and humid for a month. Yesterday was the first day it was cool.
We’ve gotten two inches of rain in the last two weeks, and that really helped. Rain should help fill things out now. I’m pretty optimistic.

Enlist Duo™ herbicide provides excellent marestail control
Marestail is a hard one to control. Tillage does work very well, but because I’m not using tillage, herbicides become a lot more important.
The burndown did a very good job on everything, except the marestail did start to regrow. But when we hit it with an application of Enlist Duo™ herbicide, it completely turned brown. With the resistant weeds that we’re seeing, a new herbicide is important to control those weeds.

Enlist E3™ soybeans are looking good
Our beans are full-flower and beginning to set pods. Two-thirds of the crops look really good and the other third are dry. We’re hoping to get a rain this week.
Our Enlist E3™ soybeans got a rain on Monday and look really good. Enlist Duo™ herbicide is working awesome. The marestail I was looking to control is brown.

I had heard there could be wilting within 24 hours of application so I checked the field. The soybeans were not wilting after application. There was no damage to the crop. The weeds, however, were wilting within 24 hours. They quickly turned yellow, and you can tell they are controlled.

My burndown and preemergence is holding really well so we’re not seeing a lot of weed pressure yet. With recent conditions, the Enlist E3 soybeans are growing really fast. We had two inches of rain the middle of last week and hope for more this week.

Good growing weather
We’ve had temperatures over 80 degrees every day since planting and good moisture. Good growing weather! The Enlist E3™ beans had excellent emergence; they were up in seven days. The beans have an excellent stand.

Cool, wet field conditions
I have two-thirds of my corn in and 15 percent of the beans planted. The crops are starting to emerge, but we have been wet and cold the past week. The way the forecast is looking, we will be wet another 10 days so planting will be delayed.

[New technology] is very important. Weeds change; they come and go. Marestail is our biggest issue now. It’s important to have another tool, like Enlist, available to control the tough weeds.
